Things are beginning to really get interesting. Technology has allowed today's artists a world without limits. It seems we are rapidly approaching a point to where digital artists are only limited by their imginations. I want to cite two seperate but equally impressive examples of this.
1) The all computer generated campaign for Lexus created by Logan.

The level of craftsmanship devoted to this project has me in awe at the moment. As I watch each one I have to constantly remind myself that everything was created inside of a computer.
2) The Curious Case of Benjamin Buttons

The science behind the creation of a digital representation of Brad Pitt aging backwards is revealed in the form of this website. After watching the process I began to realize how involved Brad was in the overall performance of the CG character. I got into a long discussion last night about Rourke vs. Pitt for best actor. After having seen this website, no question, Mr. Pitt should win. But the catch is that he couldn't have achieved it without the help of the artists at Digital Domain. You can make the same argument for Rourke and director Darren Aronofsky.
Getting back to my original thought, there is a quote on the Buttons website by one of the digital artists, 'when we embarked on this journey it seemed like science fiction.' I like to think that it seemed that way because it essentially is or was. My job as it exists today did not exist five years ago. It won't exist in the same essence five years from now. Technology allows us to grow exponentially as artists. It appeals to my nature to constantly evolve for the better which is why I am excited, not intimidated about what I will be capable of tomorrow.
