When I began this blog, I created a rule to maintain it from an artistic standpoint. But I can't resist reflecting on the year that was and how monumental it was for me.
I have been thinking about the idea of change. It seems to be a reoccuring theme for me. Inexcapable. Whether it is dealing with clients that have seemed to lulled themselves into a really formulaic marketing format or addressing whom our next president will be one thing is for certain: change is inevitable. In watching Fincher's latest 'Benjamin Buttons' change was the theme. Looking into someone's eyes know that this moment is only fleeting. I didn't enjoy the underlying exetensionalism because it casted change into a negative light. I prefer Saul Williams' quote "One Truth remains. And that Truth is that God is Change"
Life is dynamic. The person I was one year ago is not the person I am today. In reflecting on all that I have accomplished this year, it is amazing to me the exponential growth as an artist and as a person that I have experienced. Even with my successes I will vow to never be content but to always be thankful.
Sitting here knowing what the potential of 2009 holds only will propel me forward. I embrace the change that is to come. That is what allows me to follow the progression that has been my life.
Above is an image sequence that I photographed in the Chicago Art Institute yesterday. Levels of perception constantly changing.
Here is a link to my favorite song right now. Right click to download. Sigur Ros 'með suð í eyrum.' Translating the title it means 'with a ringing in our ears.'
