This film recently came out on DVD and I finally got around to watching it this weekend. Funny Games originated in German and luckily some American producers saw it and decided to do a shot for shot remake of the film in English, with English speaking actors. They even retained the brilliant director of the German Version, Michael Haneke. This film is brutal to watch but like driving by fatal car crash it is hard to look away. Therein lies the essence of what this film is about. I won't spoil it for you but after thinking about it over the last few days I finally came to the conclusion of what I think this film is about. No doubt about it, it defintely is trying to say something and that is ultimately why I would recommend watching this film.
